I've been through in that same time period.Ĭlick to expand.Yeah, it's definetly possible I screwed something up in the calibration. I don't know how may frames, wheelsets, etc. No doubt a CT is a pretty expensive piece of equipment new (and the ebay prices I've seen really aren't that much of a discount) but my CT is, hands down, the single best piece of cycling equipment that I have ever purchased in 22+ years of racing.

You also need to note that some of the old NES models aren't so cheaply upgraded to 3D (depends on load generator model). You would need to add that cost to the equation.

It's much nicer to look at and you can download files for review in WKO+, etc.

I suspect that you would want to upgrade to 3D for when you aren't using ergo mode. Plus, the older ones on ebay may also be the Nintendo "donkey-kong" version. Agree with rmur, I would avoid one over 5 years old - it's a piece of electronics and you just don't know how it may have been treated. It's bomb proof, very accurate and I've upgraded it to the 3D system a couple of years ago for a $200 or so.

when the unit was made.Īs for my own experience, I first bought my unit as a Nintendo Pro version back in early '96. If you go the used route, you should be able to figure out if it's upgradeable (to 3D if an older unit, etc) and approx.

If you live in an apartment or need to train while others are sleeping, you will want to take this factor into consideration.Check this link out from racermate's site - it gives you the specifics of the various models and how they have changed over time.

This fluid allows you to have a wider choice of resistance levels so you can more finely tune your workout. They have a flywheel, but they also have fluid-filled chambers. Fluid: Fluid trainers combine a magnetic trainer with the added resistance of a thick liquid.More advanced options use an electromagnetic unit that can be controlled with a remote control or an app on your smartphone. The difficulty level can be adjusted on this style, and they are usually very quiet. Magnetic force: These bike trainers produce resistance with magnetic flywheels.Wind trainers are usually the simplest models and are quite durable.

Although you cannot directly adjust the drag of the fan, the resistance does vary based on how fast you pedal and which gear you are using. These are three major ways that trainers produce resistance for you to work against: In general, trainers work by having the back tire of the bicycle work against resistance while the front wheel does not spin. Bike trainers are also great if you just want to burn some extra calories while you are watching TV. You can ease back into your pre-injury routine in ways that may not be possible on your local terrain. They are also useful for rehabilitation after an injury. You can use them when the weather is bad but you still want to get in your ride. Indoor bicycle trainers are sports gear that let cyclists train indoors with their outdoor bikes. Whether the weather is bad or the traffic is crazy, you can keep to your riding routine with a bike trainer. When you cannot ride outside, an indoor bike trainer may be just the solution you need. Cycling is a fun sport for competitive racers and casual riders alike.
